FAQ - Cooling
Does it work with different materials?
Yes, it does. For example, if you have plastic pipes with iron radiators it is very
important to have a Bauer water treatment from the beginning. In many cases with such a
combinations the problems have started very soon after the first years, and after
installation of the Bauer water treatment the service life of the system has extended
remarkably.
Does it work with glycol?
Yes, it works. Some glycols are mixed with corrosion inhibitors and the dissolving of
metals may be strong. Pure glycols are less harmful on corrosion point of view. This has
been our experience.
Can we reduce or stop using chemicals?
In cooling systems the corrosion has been the problem from the beginning. For example, in
plastics industry the corrosion of the very expensive moulds has been a problem which has
forced to use inhibitors. The result, based on water samples, has been opposite:
dissolving has increased. After using the Bauer water treatment with pure water and
filtration the corrosion has stopped. Also the bacteria growth has stopped and no more
expensive biocides have been required. This means that also the environmental aspect is in
order.
Can we leave the chemicals in the system?
With Bauer water treatment no chemicals are needed. And a simple fact is that the clearer
the water is, the better the heat transfer capacity of the water. So, the chemicals must
be drained out from the system.
Does it affect the cooling rate?
With the pure water and clean heat exchanging surfaces you get the best possible cooling
from the system. One millimetre of layers equals 25 millimetres of steel. Also the silting
of the systems reduces the efficiency of the system.
